This very moment, nothing else is this important.
The title of this post comes from Set Your Goals' "This very moment" and I've been thinking about this quite a bit recently. When I see a band live and they're playing one of my favourite tracks - nothing else matters that those four minutes. I'll sing along and feel really uplifted, however it seems that I'm alone on that front. Give It A Name this weekend seems to be the perfect example of that - far too many people trying to act the part when they've got a band in front of them. During Set Your Goals set you had hundreds of kids trying to "impress in the pit" and felt it appropriate to be openly hurting people. I must have taken several kicks to the knees and one guy even managed to kick me in the jaw...and I was stood up at the time. Now I know that this can be part and parcel of gigs these days - but when did people stop singing to bands and enjoying themselves at shows in favour of acting what they think is the part?
